Riverside Mazda Shoppers Compare The
2019 Mazda CX-5 vs 2019 Toyota RAV4

While the small crossover segment has more choices than ever, the 2019 Mazda CX-5 ranks among the best. It’s comfortable, fun to drive, and packs a lot of style. Newly available features, like ventilated front seats and a surround-view parking camera, make the latest CX-5 even more appealing to Riverside Mazda shoppers. Let’s find out how the 2019 Mazda CX-5 stacks up against the 2019 Toyota RAV4. Price You can compare the 2019 Mazda CX-5 to the top values on the market. It has an attractive starting Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $24,350. Meanwhile, the MSRP for the 2019 Toyota RAV4 starts at $25,650. CX-5 buyers stand to save an extra $1,300. When you visit a local dealership like the Riverside area Mazda dealers, you won’t actually pay the MSRP. We use it as a way to compare

Compare Performance

The 2019 Mazda CX-5 gives you two different powertrains to choose from. An efficient 2.0-liter, SkyActiv four-cylinder engine comes standard. If you desire stronger acceleration, step up to the turbocharged version of this engine. It cranks out 250 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, which is more performance than you get from the RAV4’s engine. Toyota rates the RAV4’s 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine to develop 201 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. While Motor Trend clocked the turbocharged CX-5 with a 0-60 mph time of 6.4 seconds, the RAV4 takes around 7.8 seconds to hit 60 mph.

Compare Handling

When driving the 2019 Mazda CX-5, you can look forward to enjoying best-in-class handling. While the 2019 Toyota RAV4 also handles well, it’s not as precise as the athletic CX-5. Mazda equips every new CX-5 with G-Vectoring Control Plus. This system improves cornering by applying light braking force to the outer wheels. G-Vectoring Control Plus is also engineered to shift the CX-5’s weight forward for enhanced tire grip.

Interior Room When hauling around your family and friends, passenger space becomes a big concern. While both of these crossovers can seat up to five people, the Mazda CX-5 gives everyone more space to spread out. It has an overall passenger volume of 103.6 cubic feet, which outclasses the Toyota RAV4’s total passenger volume of 98.6 cubic feet. On long drives, backseat occupants will especially appreciate the CX-5’s extra 1.8 inches of legroom. Features Mazda equips the new CX-5 with a lot of standard equipment. Even the base CX-5 boasts premium features like a leather-wrapped steering wheel and push-button start. To get these features on the RAV4, you must move past the base model. Some exclusive upgrades are also available for the CX-5. Only the CX-5 offers Android Auto, which is among today’s most popular smartphone integration technologies. Safety Like the 2019 Mazda CX-5, the 2019 Toyota RAV4 provides solid impact protection. However, only the CX-5 was chosen as a Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS. A lower headlight rating puts the RAV4 at a clear disadvantage. Appearance Both of these crossovers have a modern appearance. However, there’s no overlooking the CX-5’s sleeker body lines and sportier stance. The CX-5 also offers some premium paint options, including Soul Red Crystal Metallic. In the End While the 2019 Toyota RAV4 has some good qualities, it has been upstaged by the 2019 Mazda CX-5 in several key categories.
